Scope Note
Named for Newt and Ida Munson, who were the owners
of Munson Island in the 1920's.
A famous fishing camp was formerly located here.
Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, and Nixon
were visitors.
Frequently referred to as Little Palm Island.
Also known locally as Sheriff's Island, after
Sheriff John Spottswood, a former county sheriff
(1953-1963).
