Geographic Location
Located due north of Bahia Honda Key, between East
Bahia Honda Key and the Horseshoe Keys.
Reference
Gerdes (1849) states "The island N.W. of Pigeon
Key, distant about 6 miles, close to Cow Harbor
N.W. Channel is named W. Bahia Honda Key."
So named on U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey chart
#1251 (1932).
Scope Note
A field report written for the U.S. Coast &
Geodetic Survey in 1935-36 states: 'West Bahia
Honda Key is also known as Little Bahia Honda Key
and East Bahia Honda Key is known as Big Bahia
Honda Key. In order to avoid confusion with the
Bahia Honda Key along the railroad the names East
and West are recommended for continuance on the
chart."
