An 1829 chart of the Dry Tortugas drawn for the U.S. Navy Department shows Northeast Key located between, and slightly to the north of, East Key and North Key. U.S. Coast Survey chart #471A "Tortugas Harbor and Approaches" (1874) shows this key to the northeast of Bush Key, but states that it has disappeared.
