Castor & Pollux
Scope Note
John Lee Williams, in his "Territory of Florida" (1837) states: "Castor and Pollux are two small keys, lying west of the Paps (Sands Key), and east of Saunder's Cut." This statement makes little or no sense, as Saunder's Cut is the modern Sands Cut, which separates the south end of Sands Key from the north end of Elliott Key. If the above two keys were west of Sands Key, they must also have been west of Sands Cut, and vice-versa. The Featherbed Banks, however, lie to the west, and Bache Shoal to the east of Sands Key. Both of these features are awash at low tide.
