Kalteux Key

Scope Note:

 

Named in 1992 for Franklin James Kalteux (1900-1983) of Tavernier. Mr. Kalteux was an active business and civic leader and was known locally as “Mr. Tavernier.” His efforts to develop Tropical Altlantic Shores, the Plantation Yacht Harbor Resort and Tavernier Creek led to the official naming of the island.

So named in his honor by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names in 1992 with grateful assistance by Senator Bob Graham and Mr. Kalteux’s stepson, Jerald Lee O’Cathey.
