Johnstons Key Mangrove

Scope Note:

Name according to Charles William Pierce, writing of a cruise in his boat, Bonton. In 1885, many of the keys had adjacent to them small mangrove islands which were given the name of that key with the addition of the word "mangrove." He further writes that the native conch pronunciation was "mangus", in this case "Johnsonskey Mangus."
