Scope Note:
- In the pre-railroad era, this key was the site of a settlement of spongers. During the years of ferryboat operation, (1922-1938) the site of a settlement with a post office at the landing of the ferry from Lower Matecumbe Key. The 1870 census shows 45 settlers and 23 dwellings.
Geographic Location:
- Located immediately east of, and connected by bridge to, Big Pine Key.

- DeBrahm chart (1772) shows Edwards Island. Gerdes (1849) states, "The Island N. by W. from Summerlands Keys, lying between them and Little Pine Island is called No Name Key."
