According to Mr. Glen Simmons, of Homestead, Fla., who has been a back country and Everglades guide for many years, the name history of these two keys is as follows: During the long skiff journey from the outer keys to Cape Sable or Flamingo, these high & dry keys were a popular place to stop for the relief of physical discomforts. These two keys were named the Shit Keys for many years. The name was later changed to the Chit Keys, and then finally to the Dump Keys.

Located in Florida Bay, one mile south of mainland Mosquito Point.
